61st Narcissus Pageant, 808citycard online report has decided to do a sneak preview of the 61^st Narcissus Pageant contestants.

Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii has organized the special event called the Splendor of China to introduce and share Chinese cultures with the Hawaii residents. In this event, many vendors and groups have booths set up to interact with visitors. This event will be held for today and tomorrow (Oct 3^rd and 4^th 2009). If you have missed the first day you are still able to visit them on Sunday.

Qualifications·

Of at least 50% Chinese descent with a Chinese surname

· Single (never been married or given birth to a child)

· Must be 19 to 26 years of age on pageant date - Revised as of June 2003

· Have been a resident of Hawaii for at least 12 months prior to pageant

As you have probably noticed, Karen Chang (standing on the far left in 2^nd picture), who was also helping out at our previous AIDS WALK Sponsorship event, has also decided to run for this 61st Narcissus Pageant. According to the rule of this pageant, all the contestants must have some Asian background in order to enter. On the far right of the picture is Yi Ting Ling (aka Raina) is the President of the Taiwanese Student Organization at HPU.

60^th pageant finalist Dan Yuan (the 2^nd one from the right) was also present at the event to give support to the upcoming contestants. Dan Yuan has also been actively working hard to help out the Splendor of China Event and recruiting contestants for the 61^st pageant. We also recognize her for coming to help out at the AIDS WALK event sponsored by 808citycard to bring about the awareness of AIDS to the public.

At the Splendor of China event, there were also other performances such as Chinese martial art, dog show, musical performances and others. A monitor was set up to explain the rail system that Hawaii is planning to build. Of course, there were also some interesting discussions taking place with those that do not support such rail system.

Of course, what would an event be without food to fill the hunger? People were happily enjoying the delicious lunch at the event.Today is also the Moon Festival for the Chinese community. Many Chinese residents today will be gathering with family members and friends for an enjoyable dinner while looking at the full moon. 808Citycard wishes the best of luck to all the contestants and congratulate them for their hard works and courage.
